Ended up this evening after a long day at the hotelbar with a colleague who told about his stepfather being in the hospital with cancer. We never had such an emotional conversation before and the good thing was it never felt embarrassing or uncomfortable.

Layover in Stockholm where I arrived at terminal 2 or 3. Decided to take a walk to Terminal 5 for flight to Gothenburg but didn’t realize I had to pass security check again. The soda drinks I had bought in Amsterdam were not allowed and I was not thirsty enough to drink them all on the spot.

(Very) early flight to Gothenburg (with layover in Stockholm). Not so crowded at Schiphol this morning. Flight delayed with 15 minutes.

We’ve accomplished the Power user testing with good results, and global milestone meeting voted for Continue. We’ve passed the point of no return…
Last round of smoke testing has started with deadline in around 5 hours from now. So far no major issues have been reported. Which is promising.

Last week I wasn’t much online, not because of the dramatic outcome (my honest opinion) of the US elections (although not a US citizen, I’m really concerned now that the would-be dictator has won) but because we were preparing for a major dot release of our main business system (global single instance).
At Saturday night 1 AM the downtime started and only a few minutes ago we got the release that we can start testing. First with Power Users (3 hour window) and next a smoke test (6 hour window), and if all goes well this evening (my time) at around 8 PM we hope to reveice the Go decision that we can start using the system again.
Hope from the perspective that the upgrade didn’t introduce any major issues, but also hope that we don’t need to continue testing till late at night, because I need wake up at 3 AM already for a ride to the airport to catch my flight to Sweden. And I really need some sleep…
